Ron Sato

Ron Sato - Positive Spin Correspondent

Ron Sato is a communications consultant and a real estate investor. As a consultant, he has advised foreign government and several non-profit organizations. He has also hosted a radio show in Los Angeles focusing on the entertainment business.
Ron was previously senior vice president of worldwide publicity and international corporate communications for Sony Pictures Television. Based at the company’s global headquarters in Culver City, California, Ron supervised publicity teams for all television series (Damages, Community, The Shield, Rescue Me, The Dr. Oz Show, Shark Tank, etc.), TV movies, 120 TV channels (AXN, SET, Animax, among others) and digital offerings, including Crackle.com. He was also responsible for publicizing the company’s local language television programming in 37 countries. Additionally, he was in charge of shaping and implementing the media relation’s strategy for all of the company’s mergers and acquisitions as well as launches of TV channels worldwide. With oversight of executive communications, he was responsible for drafting top-level executive speeches pertaining to television, including those written for former Sony Corporation CEO Sir Howard Stringer and Sony Pictures Entertainment Chairman Michael Lynton.

Ron joined Sony Pictures Television from IAC/InterActiveCorp (formerly USA Networks, Inc.) in New York where he served as vice president and head of corporate communications. At IAC, he was responsible for issuing the company’s quarterly earnings press releases, providing relevant press information to NASDAQ and the Securities and Exchange Commission, and overseeing the media strategy for all mergers and acquisitions. During his tenure, Ron handled press for the formation of Vivendi Universal Entertainment (valued at US$11.7 billion), and IAC’s acquisitions of companies such as Ticketmaster, Hotels.com, Expedia, Lending Tree, Entertainment Publications, Interval International, Match.com, Citysearch, Evite and TV Travel Shop in the UK. Ron was also responsible for all press and speaking engagements for IAC Chairman and CEO Barry Diller. Prior to joining IAC, Ron was vice president and head of publicity for one of IAC’s former subsidiaries, USA Network, the top-rated general entertainment channel in the United States.

Earlier in his career, Ron served as a publicist for such TV shows as Extra, Leeza, The Montel Williams Show and Hard Copy. He was also the publicist for the launches of Access Hollywood and Real TV. He began his career in the mid 1990s in Los Angeles at top public relations firms BWR and Rogers & Cowan where he worked with actors, singers and other performers.

Ron is an alumnus of Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York.
